We were able to see Amy, Gary's niece, on Saturday, and we went to Stanley with her. Typhoons really have a lot of force. Here's a rock that the ocean picked up and moved onto a path there. Elder Chandler estimated that it must weigh about 3000 pounds so you can just imagine how much force that the waves had that picked it up. |
Here's a Budhist Tinhau Temple that is there at Stanley. It was built in 1767. Tinhau means Goddess of the Sea. |
Here are some children having fun with the "bubble man" there. |

Back at TST there was a large dragon we had to get a photo of, too. |
There was also a beautiful exhibit of calligraphy and painting so we took a couple of photos these, also.
They always have lots of flowers with their displays, too. |
Here's Amy with the Church office building in the background. |
These photos are a little mixed up as here are some more of a little shrine there at Stanley. |
Too bad you can't smell the beautiful incense that is always burning in these places. |
It is a beautiful place to visit. |

More figures from the shrine. |

Can you see on the rocks some of the little boats that were thrown up there from the typhoon? |
The Chinese man in the middle of the street was singing cowboy songs and he also sang April Love that Pat Boone used to sing. It was just little bit weird. |
Cute little Chinese type puppy with a little puff ball tail. |
Where's Waldo? |
Here's another cute and different looking dog. Most of the dogs here don't wear clothes like they did in Japan, though. |
Here's more of the aftermath of the typhoon. |

We'll end the post with a few of our students from the 2nd English class group. We're really proud of them as most of them who take the IELT's English test are passing so they will be able to go to BYU Hawaii or BYU Provo. Some of the others who took the test and passed didn't come back for the rest of the 20 lessons that Elder Chandler taught as we had several more students that have attended but just are not pictured in this photo. We look forward to seeing some of them when we're at home when they are attending BYU. |
Okay, just two more, showing us with a few of the sisters after "temple Sunday" yesterday. It is wonderful that four times a year the temple is opened so the sisters who only have Sunday off can attend. We really enjoyed being with them in the House of the Lord. |
Okay, just 2 more. Here are some wonderful brothers and sisters who came to the temple this week, too. These great people are from India. |
And these wonderful sisters and brothers are from Laos. It is so wonderful that the gospel is blessing so many people all over the world. |
