The computer seems to have "healed" so we thought we'd post while it's still running. Here are some pictures from the Sunday temple day which is held about four times a year for the many domestic workers who have only Sunday off. Notice how the flowers are all blooming. |

Last week we held self-reliance training classes for 146 young missionaries in the Hong Kong Mission. We did three different groups and had a fun time with them. They are from the Philippines, Canada, US, England, Australia, Taiwan and a few other places that we can't remember. |
The mission president wants the missionaries to become more involved in teaching people how to become self-reliant. |
This is a nice little park which is near the temple and the church where we were doing our self-reliance training for the missionaries. Many times we like to get a Subway sandwich and eat it in the park for dinner between teaching our English class and going to help in the temple. |
Here are the old and the young all learning together. Maybe if Elder Chandler just dyed his white hair dark you couldn't tell the difference. |
Elder Chandler was having so much fun telling jokes. He was very entertaining while teaching the missionaries and they enjoyed the training very much. |
Here are some of our students in our English class. We teach this class to help returned missionaries prepare to pass an English proficiency test so they can attend a university in the US--like BYU Provo, BYU Idaho, BYU Hawaii or anywhere else they want to go. |
The young missionary on the far left is Elder Garcia. He and Elder Chandler like to talk in Spanish so no one else can understand them. This group of missionaries, besides speaking English, all speak Cantonese, Mandarin, or Tagalog. |
Here we're on our way to Taipei, Taiwan for a week of training and working with all the country self-reliance managers from the Asia Area. |
Hong Kong airport is the 8th busiest airport in the world and is built on land reclaimed from the ocean. |
We must have arrived in Taipei. |
These are some scenes along the way from the Taipei airport to the city. It is a distance of about 35 km.(22 miles) and it was very foggy all the way. |
Here's an interesting hotel we saw on the way to our hotel. |
This street is a very short distance from our hotel. It runs for miles with palm trees down the middle. It was so nice to see wide streets and cars driving on the right side of the road. |
In the background is Chiang Kai-Shek park and memorial which was only a couple of blocks from the hotel. The following pictures are all from the park. |
Maybe Elder Chandler wants a car like Chiang Kai-shek had or maybe he just wants a car to drive again, unless he's forgotten how to drive! |
We want a door like this on our house! |
Happy little fellow, wouldn't you say? |
This is the street in front of the Royal Biz hotel where we stayed. It is just a short walk to the Taipei Temple, the church and the church offices in Taipei. |
Here's the Taipei, Taiwan temple. It is a beautiful temple and we were able to attend a session there, too. |
Taipei 101 tower was the tallest building in the world from 2004 to 2015. The design is supposed to resemble a bamboo plant. |
This is the view from the 90th floor where the observation deck is. |
The building has the world's fastest elevator but you can't tell when you are riding in it except that you get to the top really fast. |
This giant counter-weight is on the 90th floor and is designed to offset any sway caused by an earthquake.
Here we are with some of the managers and senior missionaries at a dinner we had one night during our training. The managers at the conference were from Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, India, Cambodia, and Mongolia. These are extra special people. The other couple missionaries were Elder and Sister Chen and Elder and Sister Chan. They are all from Taiwan but Elder and Sister Chan now live in Murray, Utah, and will be returning there in a month when they are finished with their mission.
Here's a photo of all of the managers and the senior missionaries who were able to attend.

As we were in the line to get on our plane to go "home" to Hong Kong, we saw this funny mural and thought the grandchildren would like to see it.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Our Stake has started rolling out the Self-Reliant programs. I have not heard from our Elder Cragun whether they have started rolling out the program to the missionaries in the Arizona Scottsdale Mission. Thanks for the heads up on the program before it was announced in our Stake.
