Hong Kong Park

We usually stay away from Hong Kong island on Saturdays as we don't particularly like the bus ride there but we had self-reliance meetings at our office on Saturday so afterwards we decided to check out the Hong Kong Park which is just a short ways away on the bus from there.  We saw after we got off the bus and thought it was worth a photo.

The park is situated right between many tall buildings.

There's a beautiful man-made lake there, too.

The turtles were unsuccessfully trying to catch some sun or get a tan but it was a cold and cloudy day.

A nice man at the park offered to take our photo and that's when noticed the "Y" on his hat as seen below.

It turns out that it was the Tang family who now reside in Springville, Utah.  Sister Tang is originally from Hong Kong and her family still lives here so they were visiting them.

It's not everyday that fellow Springville-ites or is it Springvillians get together in Hong Kong, so we got a photo.  Brother Tang was raised in the U.S. but served a mission here and they are teaching their boys Cantonese, too.

We also got a photo from the front of a waterfall....

...and from the back of the waterfall.

Also, they had a botanical garden at the park with this cute little house in it. It looks like the Teddy Bears are enjoying life, don't you think?

People were taking close-up shots of the purple flowers (orchids?) so we thought we should get a photo, too.

Here's a Jackfruit tree with Jackfruit growing on it. You could read about it here, if you like: Jackfruit

Can you see the nets above this aviary part of the park.  It is so large that we think the birds don't even realize they are netted in. We enjoyed walking through it with the birds flying freely all around.

It was fun to watch them flying around and feeding in these feeders.  We would have taken a video but we forgot to bring our good camera.

As we were leaving the park, we saw this which was more beautiful than the picture portrays of the flags in front of the Two International Finance Center or 2IFC building.  The building is 415 meter (1,362 feet) high and if you want, you can read about it here:  2IFC The International Commerce center in Kowloon is 60 meters taller, though.

By the way, this is the very large Self-Reliance Saturday group we visited last Saturday.  They have wonderful plans and they are working hard to learn and earn and save for their future.  There's a new personal finance manual that is available to download for use in the USA which we think every person in the church should read and study available at this link if you're interested Finance .  Actually, all the courses are great that are on that page.
